Long service gifts

Long service gifts
they choose themselves.

The best long service gift is one the employee picks. We build a gift catalogue around your budget, with a range for each milestone, and your people choose from quality, brand-name products: watches, jewellery, homeware, tech, travel goods and tools.

Each gift arrives wrapped and ready to present.

Why a chosen gift beats a gift card

A gift they picked is a gift they’ll use and remember.

A gift card is spent and forgotten. A watch, a piece of jewellery or something for the home gets used, displayed and talked about, and it carries your thanks with it.

Because employees choose for themselves, the gift suits them, and you avoid the guesswork of picking for hundreds of different people.

How choosing works

1

A Conversation

about what recognition looks like in your organisation and where the gaps are.

2

A Program

built around your shoe size - your budget, your culture, your people.

3

A Partnership

that is ongoing and human, not a one-off delivery - a handshake, and we're still here for year two, five and twenty.

How much to spend on a long service gift

You set the budget. If you’d like a starting point, this is what we typically see for the gift at each level.

5 years
$250 -$500
10 years
5-year level + $100 – $200
15 years
10-year level + $100 – $200
20 years
15-year level + $100 – $200
25+ years
20-year level + $100 – $200

For example, a program starting at $150 for 5 years might step up to $300 at 10 years, $450 at 15 and $600 at 20.

Part of a complete recognition pack

The gift is one part of a long service award. Most of our clients pair it with an engraved memento and a certificate, trophy or plaque, presented together.

Frequently asked questions

What is a long service award?

A long service award formally recognises an employee for a significant milestone with an organisation, typically 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25+ years. It usually includes a gift, a memento or certificate, and some form of public acknowledgement.

What’s included in a long service recognition pack?

Most packs include a gift the employee chooses from a catalogue, an engraved memento such as a lapel pin or key tag, and a framed certificate, trophy or plaque. Everything is gift-wrapped and presented with a congratulatory letter.

How much should we spend on long service awards?

It’s up to you. As a guide, gifts for a 5-year milestone typically range from $65 to $250, increasing by $100 to $200 at each milestone after that. Read our full budgeting guide.

How do employees choose their gift?

When an employee reaches a milestone, we let them know and send them to a recognition website made for your organisation. They choose from a catalogue built around your budget, and the gift is delivered wrapped and ready to present.

Can certificates, plaques and mementos be personalised?

Yes. Certificates, plaques, trophies and mementos can be designed and engraved to suit your organisation and the person receiving them.

What’s the difference between a long service gift and a gift card?

A gift card is convenient but can feel impersonal for a milestone this significant. A chosen physical gift, such as a watch, jewellery or something practical for the home, tends to be remembered and displayed, which is why most of our clients choose curated gift ranges over gift cards for long service. Read our full comparison.

Are long service gifts still relevant in a modern workplace?

Yes. Tenure and loyalty are still highly valued in sectors like government, healthcare, utilities, manufacturing and education, and a well-run recognition program remains one of the more effective retention tools available. We go into more depth here.

Do you handle retirement gifts too?

Yes. Retirement is often the most significant milestone of all, and we help organisations mark it with a personalised gift and recognition that properly reflects the career behind it.
